The Fractal Necklace
This is truly one of the most beautiful books you will ever read!
The strange and mysterious story of the East Field crop circle started in the early morning of the seventh of July 2007, the seventh of the seventh month of two thousand and seven.
Win Keech a Yorkshire man was spending his last night in Wiltshire. Win is a photographer and physicist. He is also interested in UFO’s. Over the years there have been many reports of strange lights seen hovering over East Field and in the hope of maybe catching one on film, he stationed himself on the highest vantage point of the Wansdyke at a place called Knap Hill overlooking the field below. Never in his wildest dreams had he expected to capture what he did in the following hours.
He had extensive and sophisticated equipment consisting of a series of cameras; these had infra red and visible light potential. Two of the cameras were located at the top of his car at some distance further down the hill and they were connected up to VHS VCR equipment and ran continuously from 11.08 p to 3.13 am on the first tape and from 3.13 am on the second tape.
In addition he had an image intensifier attached to a JVC-DV700 video camera. This was positioned with him on Knap Hill. This camera recorded approximately 10 scans of the field below during the evening up until 1.35am when two other people arrived and joined him.
A digital Sony camera DSC-F717 took a still shot of the field at 1.23 am and revealed that there was nothing in the field at that time. The field was empty.
The time was being recorded on the equipment.
Two friends joined him at 1.30am and it was at 3.13 am that all three people witnessed a big white flash over the field. This was registered on the last two seconds of the first tape and could have been a large electromagnetic impulse. It is still being analyzed.
At approximately 3.40 am the observers noticed a dark shadow in the field and as the light increased they were able to see an enormous shape stretching into the distance below.
One of the witnesses and his girl friend raced down the hill and were the first people to enter this gigantic formation whooping with joy and excitement. They said the fallen crop was so fresh and springy that as they stepped on it, it sounded like breaking glass. It is one of the most magical events of ones life to be the first person to step into a new crop circle.
It is interesting to note that no lights, torch lights, infra-red lights or laser beams were seen or recorded in the field apart from the flash at 3.13 am and no sounds were heard. From the top of Knapp Hill during the night any little sound can be hard and certainly if there had been people in the field, the rustling of the crop would have been audible.
It was a very dark night so any lights would have shown up clearly.
The time gap between the video recording the empty field and the formation being visible was one hour and forty-five minutes.
The formation stretches for 1033 feet and is 500 feet wide and consists of 150 plus circles, the largest measuring 184 x 164 feet. Interestingly many circles are ellipses not circles. The ellipses were shown to be exactly in relation to the slope and gradient of the land. An indication that the crop circle force was descending from above.
The flattened crop covers nearly 2.25 acres.
The gradients in the field are like switchbacks and when in the top part of the formations it is impossible to see the lower part and vice versa, making it impossible to humanly construct any accurate image or communicate from one end to the other.
The mathematics contained in this formation are complicated fractals hence its name The Fractal Necklace.
I was lucky enough to fly over it just seven hours after it appeared and seeing it from above was amazing. It was so enormous we had to fly up to about 2000 feet in order to get the whole formation in the frame.
Interestingly the field looked flat from the air and it wasn't until I went into it that I realized quite how hilly and undulating it was.
Each year I organize a day when we conduct scientific research. This year we were measuring the endocrine system to see how the hormone levels might be affected, also how our body organs might react. I am still awaiting the results but preliminary results show some significant changes from the control tests that were conducted several miles away from the formation.
After we had concluded the tests several of us lay down in various parts of the formation. Two people came into the same small circle with me and we all experienced feelings of immense and peace and euphoria. We felt as thought we were in our own inter-dimensional energy space and quite apart from the outside world. I have experienced this before and call it the ‘Cathedral Effect’. We also felt as though our energy levels had been considerably raised.
The following day many of the people who were present with me experienced strange effects. Indeed I have had many reports sent to me by people who also encountered strange happenings. A man who visited the formation on the first morning took 4 camera batteries with him. Three were newly charged rechargeable batteries; the fourth was a completely new non-rechargeable battery. To his dismay he was only able to take four pictures as one by one the batteries drained as soon as he put the into this camera.
A woman who took her Remote Keyless Car Entry Device into the formation with her, found on her return to her car that her device has been completely wiped, all the information had been erased and it was now unusable! The information can be erased or reset when exposed to strong Ultra Violet light of a certain wavelength whilst the flash ram can be cleared or scrambled with an electrical charge.
The controller chip would need a significant electrical charge to disrupt operations along the lines of an EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse).
Either way - to find any of these in a normal everyday environment is most unusual.
(There have been instances in the past when credit cards have also been wiped clean!)
All in all this has been an amazing event. The masterpiece of 2007.
Lucy Pringle was educated in England, France and Switzerland and has travelled widely, spending twelve years in Jamaica where her elder son was born. She is a Founder member of the Centre for Crop Circle Studies. She is widely known and is an international authority on the subject and the pioneer researcher into the effects of electromagnetic fields on living systems. This includes the physiological and psychological effects reported by people after visiting or being in the vicinity of a crop formation. Also animal behaviour, remote effects, luminosities, mechanical failures and audio effects. Her research shows measured changes in the human hormones following short exposure to the circles, also changes in brain activity.
Recent research in NIR (Near Infra Red) revealed a marked increase in the protein content in grain taken from inside a crop formation.
She works with scientists from all over the world.
She also writes, appears on TV and broadcasts extensively on the crop circle phenomenon. She has been a guest on BBC and Meridian Television and The Big Breakfast Show. The BBC has recently produced a programme on her research which was shown on Inside Out. She has also appeared on many US programmes including William Gazecki's 'Quest for Truth', The Discovery, Learning and History Channels, and TV programmes in Germany, Japan, France, Italy, Spain, Slovenia, Mexico and Canada. She was a guest on Libby Purvis's Mid-Week programme on Radio 4 and the BBC World Service.
She is also an aerial photographer and had an exhibition of her work in 2002 at The Independent Photographer's Gallery in Battle, Sussex, which was nominated the Sunday Telegraph's Art Critics Choice.
Denbighshire County Council is also hosting a travelling exhibition of her work.
She has the UK's most comprehensive photographic crop circle library.
She is a Founder Member and Chairman of UNEX (Unexplained Phenomena Research Society).
She lectures at home and internationally, including the Darwin Society at Christ's College, Cambridge, the Scientific Exploration Society, The College of Psychic Studies and Alternatives, London.
