I tried hard to follow my heart within the illusion of normalcy, but it didn’t quite work out. After a required stint in the Army, three years at Arizona State University and, at a time most people my age were battling the Viet Cong or staging peace marches, I left my position in mortgage banking to explore the untouched realm of a distant land. Ecuador became my temptress, my mistress. Between the years 1966 and 1975 I worked as a private investigator and in recreational real estate sales to support my addiction to her adventurous charm. Unfortunately our love affair ended after a nine year engagement when I discovered secrets from her murky past that placed my life in danger.

In the summer of 1976, I co-founded Intercep, an electronic counter measure (ECM) company that specialized in protecting telecommunications systems. Intercep was born from the necessity to identify my personal telephone problems and surveillance that was the residual of my years in Ecuador. Within two years Intercep had achieved notoriety protecting over a billion dollars in client assets and proprietary data. Our clientele included Fortune 500 companies and we achieved international recognition when Intercep was featured as the premier ECM Company in the prestigious Honeywell Computer and Privacy Symposium.  

In 1978, Intercep was at its zenith and it was time for a new adventure. Of course it would be the most impenetrable mystery of out time…The UFO phenomena. The investigation led my team and me to Switzerland where a UFO contactee and his hard evidence awaited scrutiny. The residue of his experiences included numerous clear detailed photographs, 8mm movie footage, electromagnetic disturbances, recorded sounds of the spacecraft, metal samples, and numerous witnesses. Intercep secured the evidence and arranged for it to be examined by scientists at IBM, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Arizona State University, Boeing Labs and the McDonnell Douglas aeronautics company.  The results were mind-boggling. 

In 1979, I co-authored and published UFO…CONTACT FROM THE PLEIADES, Volume I, an unprecedented 12” by 12” photo-journal of the initial findings from our investigation into the Swiss case.  The book took the community by storm and the high-quality photographs knocked everyone’s socks off. Volume I was featured on B. Dalton’s “Hot Sellers” list for thirteen consecutive weeks. Our first printing of 10,000 books sold out in weeks and, even more profound, was the 5,000 letters, we received from people from all walks of life.  Reprinted throughout the 80s, our flagship and its sister, Volume II, earned distinction as the best selling UFO photo journals. In 1980 I co-produced a two-hour television special on the case with Nippon Television, which according to the network, received one of the highest ratings in Nippon’s history and prompted a follow-up special a year later. 

In 1987, Intercep’s investigation into the Swiss case achieved wide-spread notoriety and was heralded as, “the most documented UFO case ever” by Atlantic Monthly Press in their mainstream book, Light Years, that re-investigated our five year investigation into the Eduard Billy Meier case in Switzerland.  Intercep holds the co-copyright in Light Years that was also published in paperback by Pocket Books.  

During the following years, I investigated, wrote, produced and directed five UFO video documentaries that were sold throughout the world.   

Then in 1990 – UFO…CONTACT FROM THE PLEIADES, Volume I, reincarnated as, CONTATTI DALLE PLEIADI and was published by RCS Rizzoli Libra in Italy in conjunction with a whirlwind promotional book tour that included major newspaper coverage, television interviews and a nine page spread in the premier issue of Italy’s Vanity Fair.  In 1991 VOLUME I was published by the Seishun Best Co in Japan. 

Hollywood beckoned in the 90s. Brit and I were contracted as a consultant to Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer of Hollywood Pictures for five years. I licensed footage and worked as a producer for international television companies including, BBC, Televisa and Fuji, and major U. S. film studios including Fox and Paramount. During this time Jaime Maussan, Mexico’s premier investigative journalist contacted me to assist in his investigation into the most profound UFO flap in modern history. I co-produced highly successful television specials for Televisa, Fuji TV, produced segments for a two hour special for UPN on the Mexico waves, and numerous segments for the popular television show, Sightings.  I produced a documentary trilogy that followed my investigation into Mexico.  I continued to work as a consultant for Fuji TV and Jaime Maussan’s highly rated television show, T3rcer Milenio, and contributed editing and content for www.ShirleyMaclaine.com.
