Spirit Stories: In Your Own Words
Involved
|
Here's one example of my certainty that the spirit lives on and continues to be involved with loved ones. Three weeks ago I traded cars. I had no intention of trading at this time. My '91 Buick Century, with 94,000 miles, was very dependable, the best car I've ever owned. I'd been thinking of trading before next winter, reading Consumer Reports, test-driving a variety of cars this summer. I planned to look for a red car, possibly a foreign make. I happened to glance at a full-page Sunday ad. One tiny line caught my eye: '97 Buick LeSabre: Leather seats, extras." I called to see how many miles it had -- 65,500. (My previous purchases have been program cars with no more than 25,000 miles.) I drove it, liked the feel and the various extras. Nothing seemed to deter me. It was in excellent condition. Two days later, after sticking close to my top offer, I drove it home. The color is driftwood, with tan interior -- not red. I'm certain my father guided me to this car. He passed away last July. Months before I remember him telling me, "When you get ready to trade your Century you'll want to get a LeSabre." My father never owned a Buick. He was a Ford man. I'm very pleased with my purchase, have not had a second thought. |
