Pet Stories: In Your Own Words
Elvis, The Yorkshire Terrier
|
This probably is not considered a spiritual story but here goes. I was one of many people contacted this past week regarding a 9 year old yorkshire terrier named Elvis. He was scheduled to be euthanized on Sunday Sept. 12. He was diagnosed a diabetic and his owners decided not to treat. No-one was stepping up to the plate so I had to get him. My intent was to buy some time to find him a good home. A spiritual side might be that Sept. 12 marked the 3rd anniversary of having to put down a beloved pet of my own. That was 2001 - the day after the Twin Towers came down. I guess I felt it was meant to be that I take the little guy on. I have committed to bringing his health up to date which means a 24 hour blood glucose curve, and regulating his insulin, a dental, and vaccinations. I really believe based on what I have seen in this dog that he has a lot of good yorkie years left in him. Unfortunately I have to find someone willing to take him on permanently. Can you help?
