Since childhood Kris Williams felt a natural closeness to God. He recalls dangling his feet over the edge of his porch and "slipping out" of himself to a place where he "rode on the breeze to peace." In this space he received answers and guidance.

In the spring of 1970, Kris Williams was a member of the US Army, stationed in Wiesbaden, West Germany. As a young man of 19 he wondered who he was, how life worked, and why people could be so cruel to each other. And so it was on just such a day, in just such a breeze in Germany that it happened. He felt his body filled with light. The light expanded within him, and he felt that he could float. When it reached the peak of his head, he felt "like it opened and everything outside came instantly inside and we were one." The space was timeless.

Through that experience Kris suggests that perhaps it is because we view life through the filter of the mind and ego that we judge ourselves, others, and life as imperfect. But God is perfect and can only be known in the Now.

His book, Perfectly Imperfect, is a collection of essays about finding God by the acceptance and understanding that life is Perfectly Imperfect. It is about looking past our habits, opinions, and fear to enter into a new and different kind of relationship with life. It's about letting go of the past and discovering overlooked possibilities. It is about the heart, how to find it, and how to let it work in your life.
