JENNIFER JACOBY
There are many old traditions that, in the 21st century, are not well understood by the general public. Things from our past such as Shamanism, witchcraft, and animism are no longer prominent religious concepts. But there was a time when they were and these ideologies are beginning to experience a resurgence in today's culture. My guest this week is a woman of diverse background who can help us better understand these ancient practices and how they intermingle with the mainstream of today. Jennifer Jacoby is a shamanic practitioner specializing in the Celtic mystical techniques and practices. Shamanically active since childhood, Jennifer's formal training in shamanism spans a decade of extensive study with the Foundation for Shamanic Studies as well as with Celtic practitioners internationally. She is a Minister of the Circle of the Sacred Earth, a church of animism fostering shamanic principles and practices. She is also an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, licensed in Arizona, Minnesota and British Columbia, Canada. A graduate of the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Jennifer is a general practitioner with experience treating a wide variety of illnesses, ranging from traumatic injury and the flu, to asthma and infertility. Jennifer also cultivates a special interest in women's health and birthing issues. Her extensive training in alternative healing therapies reflects her belief in the healing power of the human spirit. Jennifer is also a soul midwife, which we will find out more about later. In addition to those credentials, Jennifer holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Russian and French languages and literature from Washington University, as well as a Master of Arts degree in Translation and Interpretation (Russian/English) from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Jennifer is a published poet and an active member of her community. To learn more about Jennifer visit her website: www.circleofhealingarts.net. Tune in for an enlightening discussion of Shamanism. |
