Join Shirley Sunday, August 19 for an amazing discussion about "Dark Light Consciousness".
Her guest will be: DR. EDWARD BRUCE BYNUM Edward Bruce Bynum, Ph.D., A.B.P.P., is a clinical psychologist and the director of behavioral medicine at the University of Massachusetts Health Services in Amherst. A student of Swami Chandrasekharanand Saraswati and a winner of the Abraham H. Maslow award from the American Psychological Association, he is the author of several books, including The African Unconscious. He lives in Pelham, Massachusetts. ABOUT THE BOOK: Dark Light Consciousness The dark magic of the brain is being revealed more and more each year by medicine, neuroscience and the fantastic scientific instruments we have created to explore it. And yet sometimes we forget that long ago our ancestors discovered forces within us that only now have modern science begun to unravel and understand. Within each of us lies the potential to activate a personal connection not merely to the unconscious level of the mind rediscovered and explored by Freud, Jung and the others of the early 20th century, but to the Superconscious realm of the mind, long the province of mystics, gifted people in moments of artistic and scientific inspiration and personal episodes of profound illumination. 6 PM PDT - 9 PM EDT http://www.shirleymaclaine.com/ieradio/about/next SHould be fascinating! Thank You Brit
Looking forward to this radio show and will get this book. Long time ago I had experienced during meditation an electric kind of current coming up inside the spine, it went up to the base of my head where I stopped feeling it. Than I felt light at the top of my head kind of flame at the top and I thought that my hair will get on fire and this took me out of that meditation. Many years later I was reading about this energy in the book 'Merging with Siva by Gurudeva founder of Kauai Hindu Monastery. Here is link to the chapter about Powers of the spine: http://himalayanacademy.com/resourc.../mws_ch-38.html There is another chapter that goes further than this; http://himalayanacademy.com/resourc.../mws_ch-08.html I posted link to this book in books section before. Thanks again. Last edited by Basia : 08-15-2012 at 03:20 PM. |

Hello
I think this will be a very important discussion and I hope you tune in. Have you ever wondered why scriptures indicate dark was here before light?

Hi Shirley,
The saying is that you can't bring dark to the light, you have to bring the light to the dark. I will have to listen to see what the guest has to say about this tonight. I'm looking forward to it. AD

Shirley...let's face it, you are light years ahead of this guy! In all honesty, I was laughing out loud alot listening to this interview...and feeling you being polite to your guest! Goes back to the old flashlight on the proverbial tin can and turning the can as one side become light and then becomes dark and then becomes light,etc.,etc. All of it is illusion.
Can we save the world....Mother Earth? Hope so... but, is the collective unconscious and collective consciousness able and ready? 12 billion souls...sounds about right...hope this already begun "vast ecolgical crises" can be diverted but, realistically as things are going now my breaking heart is unsure about this. Love to you, Wolfdog |

Yes, this interview was a bit painful to listen to.....I think you forget how much more expanded you are compared to others. Their work may be an increase in general consciousness, but they need to be able to be on the same playing field as you are in order to make the interview work well. Just my opinion. Although, having said that perhaps he left the interview with several Ah ha! moments which will ripple into his future work.

Dear Shirley,
i keep having this vision; You and Dr Bynum stuck on Jabcob's ladder, half way up. Him ahead of you and you right behind, pushing him and prodding him to continue to climb while he keeps saying he can't because he's afraid of heights. But then again, how can someone write a book about Dark Light Consciousness and be a student of Swami Chandrasekharanand Saraswati and not be somewhat enlightened? i went to youtube to find him and everything he said during the IE interview, he said almost verbatim in these two youtube videos about his book, Dark Light Consciousness. So maybe what happened here was he came to the IE interview scripted (inserting these same phrases and sentences wherever he could) instead of relying on his own spontaneity. And being focused on that script, it was almost as if he wasn't really hearing the questions (or hearing them but) unable to move in those different directions that Shirley was moving in, because he was so focused on always coming back to his script. i think if he had relied on his own spontaneity (being here now which raises one's vibration) (as he must have learned from Swami Chandrasekharanand Saraswati) it would have been a more moving interview. i have problems with that too sometimes; just before i do a presentation; all my ducks have to be in a row. The trick is as you go along to loosen up if you can and let your ducks go. Ha! Love, Chi

Ok, I waited to see if the “enlightened” SM would say something – but she hasn’t, so I will –
Can anyone here say J U D G M E N T A L? SM told Billy Bishop when he complained about the last interview that everyone had a style – but she didn’t remind you – so I will – so what? the guy was stiff – wasn’t spontaneous – that determines enlightenment? SM isn’t exactly cuddly, you know – ask her daughter. What did you think about his ideas? No one commented on anything but SM’s interview style and Dr. Bynum’s level of enlightenment (JUDGMENTAL – in case people didn’t figure out where they had been judgmental) – All this raise the vibrations stuff is a judgment – can you tell from one thing someone says if they are enlightened? Or even a set of ideas? Isn’t that dogma? My Church of SM is better than your Church of Melatonin? Does anyone have any comments about the man’s actual ideas? I looked at the Vimeo video and I did not understand how melatonin made some humans more enlightened but primates all have it and so do mammals from what I understand – so – doesn’t that sort of mean animals might be in a constant state of what we call enlightenment? How would we know if they were or not? Did he mention how our level of melatonin makes us different? Or is it just because we can talk and tell people what incredibly “wise” thoughts we have that we think we’re the only ones having these incredibly “wise” thoughts? By what standards do we “judge “enlightenment? Whoops! There’s that word again. Maybe SM knows?

Hello Freesia
Let's talk about judgement shall we? Just what do you think you know about my daughter? I'm sure you have met her personally and were there for her childhood? I'm sure you saw all the interaction first hand. Dr. Bynum did not say melatonin. He said melanin. And he wasn't referring to skin pigment. I told him he needed to stretch... and at the very end he did. Does that mean he is not enlightened? Not to me. Did anyone say that he was not 'enlightened'? No one... but you. Basia thought he was optimistic. Is that judgement? I believe it is as judgmental as any of the comments made. But is it acceptable? Since you focused solely on the other comments I'm assuming that it is acceptable for you. Judgement is judgement - whether pro or con. Many of us learn how to expand our thinking by paying attention to statements that may not be 'sweetness and light' but are nonetheless fair. We also learn to encompass more understanding of others by examining our own judgements. Look at your comments on people in this community. It appears you have a bone to pick with me - so what is it? Get it off your chest and remember that your judgments are as powerful as any of the others. What are you learning from them? So with judgement sitting in your mirror looking back at you, how does it feel?
