Adventure and discovery was the enticement that drew Lee Elders to this wild lawless land; the supernatural world of the Shuara that live in a mystical realm of ayahuasca-induced visions where the ethereal world is encased within our third dimensional reality. Along the way he discovered his true self - his Kakarma. However incredible some of the incidents may seem this is a true story.

Question Is America doomed because it’s too individualistic?

One of the main and mythic features of American culture is “rugged” or just plain old individualism.

If the new age –an age of enlightenment is about interconnectedness and one of the things holding the world back from getting there is me me me – then how is it possible for Americans who are very individualistic to reach enlightenment.

Is this one myth and personal value (basically part of the ego because it’s culturally based and a state created by the mythos of society) counteracting change?

Is it, at best, two steps forward, one step back – or maybe even one step forward, one back?

Who created the myth of individualism? How can we be sure it wasn’t those who wanted no change in the first place?

Scientists say that the internet makes people unable to relate to people socially (in physical reality/not the online variety). It also is a breeding ground for disinformation, confusion, conspiracy theories and drama in general. Did people who want to keep things the same and make the world a place for ruling elite to thrive know this? – or was it just a happy coincidence for them?

If a person is individualistic how could anyone who wasn’t that way get through to them? (like aliens may not have been able to understand the humans they met down here).

How does a person “get over” the American myth of rugged (or just plain old) individualism? Or is it impossible and the whole country is doomed?

If you don’t know your neighbors or you think they are the problem – are you really able to answer these questions?

Hmmmmm .....interesting question, Freesia 16.
I think that one can be both individualistic as well as compassionate and empathetic ~ ie, engaged with others on a real, deep level, not just a superficial me me me level. I tend to blame greed and capitalism for America's being "doomed" --- but even "doomed" is a pretty severe word. Maybe I'd choose America "in transition" instead of "doomed."

I have hope (albeit skimpy at times) that "we" as a united nation will somehow come through all of our current economic, ecological, international, etc etc troubles with a clearer understanding of what we - as Americans - really stand for and just how much bs we'll take before "we" commit to a positive change.

I do feel a definite sense of frustration on every level imagineable -- the entire planet feels off-center to me right now, and as one measly little ole' individual I don't know what I can contribute to 'right' it ...... but I keep trying. And I keep praying for global enlightenment and love.

Love to all!!

Well CHANGE is inevitable, even if Obama doesn't wanna do it by being a new republican.

They say the Japanese are more homogenous, wanting to fit in, maybe that is a better way, at least they seem to respect one another; especially after returning some $78 million that was found in wallets and debris from the earthquake to it's rightful owners, not one cent was taken.

Then when can say on the journey we are always alone, that true awareness is going to come from within and not doing what everyone else is doing.

Perhaps it's a little of both walking the lonely path yet knowing we are never truly alone in our connection to all things.

I'm so gullible, perhaps a bit too open minded, but in my old age have come to question at least a bit before I leap into some assumption, water cure, revelation. I've never had much money to lose, only my pride, and that's hopefully subsiding to compassion and understanding. There perhaps lies my truth.

Celebrate the moments of your life,

Vaughn....your words very beautifully put and simple. I too have been inspired by the Japanese people but an entirely different story. I didn't know about the money, that is even more inspiring:

A group of more than 200 Japanese pensioners are volunteering to tackle the nuclear crisis at the Fukushima power station.

The Skilled Veterans Corps, as they call themselves, is made up of retired engineers and other professionals, all over the age of 60.

They say they should be facing the dangers of radiation, not the young.

It was while watching the television news that Yasuteru Yamada decided it was time for his generation to stand up.

No longer could he be just an observer of the struggle to stabilise the Fukushima nuclear plant.

The retired engineer is reporting back for duty at the age of 72, and he is organising a team of pensioners to go with him.

For weeks now Mr Yamada has been getting back in touch with old friends, sending out e-mails and even messages on Twitter.

Volunteering to take the place of younger workers at the power station is not brave, Mr Yamada says, but logical.....................Read Full Article

In Feb. 2011 we had a ten inch snow in Southern New Mexico and an artic cold front, with below freezing degrees for many days which was so unrealistic for this area. Then came the bursting of one of our pipes under the kitchen sink. Wow, it was like Niagra Falls. I came in, got the broom and started swishing the water out the laundrey room door into the garage and on out to the driveway. There was a river of water flowing.

I hollered at Peg to call Diane, our next door neighbor to tell her we needed assistance. Soon, Jay, her husband showed up and attempted to turn the water off from outside. My son drove up at that time and he got out and attempted to assist, but the valves were stuck.

Peg then called the City to inform them that we needed them to come out and shut the water off to the house because we were flooding. It was several hours before they came to do so as there were many water breaks in town at that time.

In the mean time, Jay, our next door neighbor, rigged up a system with a water hose to syphon the water out. Then, he finally found a valve in the laundrey room to shut the water off. He was there for hours as we swept the water out the back door.

In the meantime, we called our Property Mgmt Company to send out a plumber to fix the leak. They were heavily inundated with calls and it would be several days before they could come out. So in the meantime, we were without water.

So we went to our other next door neighbor to fill our jugs with water so that we could flush our toilets.

In otherwords, every neighbor came to our assistance in our need, as we would for them. We all watch out for each other. That is our neighborhood.

Just wanted to post this to say, America is still the people helping each other. Though the media may not portray this system, it still exists and if you don't live here and know that, I find it questionable why anyone would post otherwise.

We are a land of people who have forged this land with our blood, sweat and tears and we still remain a great nation of the people who have conquered many adversities and we have done it togehter, helping one another. And so we remain doing just that.

Love, Deb

Dear EB family,
Reading all above, makes my Heart warm to know there is/are majority of us on this beautiful planet Earth who appreciate/respect: life, unity, each other and basicly, disply basic human traits that we all have been created with. Somewhere along the line though-some of us-[our leaders/politicians/ religion] got sidetracked, lost in the MATTER that actually dos not matter. We all know deep down that matter is energy as we are, and what really matter is: what you do with that matter to experience life that we choose on this planet for our Soul experiences? So, us who know what real values are, hold on, stand firm in the midst of the storm and keep the light of our Hearts bright to brightening the Path for thous who believe they end is near: www.EventTemple.com meditation 2. Keep awareness of NOW as much as possible and listen to Your Hearts, do not judge or dwell on what appears to be going on around, cause, ALL is as it must be in the matter world, but in reality-ALL is well. keep Love and loving feelings going in Your mind-even to notice the Sunrise/sunset a bird on the tree or side of the road, inocent child smile etc.-to center our self in to NOW and that energy vibrations of calm WILL/IS helping the Planet in this crucial days of the hardship that is going through NOW. The Planet Earth is counting on our help, we can help, and this is the way.
Love Blessings to all of You

This is from the empath & spititual teacher Carolyn Cobelo ... thought it worth sharing, especially in light of today's earthquake.
Love to all!

"There is before us a tremendous change in the operation of the world, as we know it. The recent earthquakes, such as those in Japan, are only the beginning. The rebellion of the suppressed people is only a beginning. The force of freedom, respect for human rights, and the honoring of each breath that each one takes is a lesson many, many people will learn.

There is taking place now a rapid re-balancing of the Earth in order to take us into a new way of being on Earth. Change will come very rapidly now with an acceleration of our bodily functions, including hearts, elimination systems, digestion sysytems, to adapt to the intensity of the energies coming into the Earth now. Deep, deep within the core of the Earth the rumblings are beginning to intensify. The islands of Hawaii will be a director of actions on Earth in response to the catastrophes, for she has resilience and understanding that is stronger than other places on Earth. Let love prevail and human living be of love and respect for all who come amongst us.

There may be many more disasters taking place, but do consider that they are really a reminder that life cannot be decimated by power and control, aggression and violence. The end result will be a refocusing on human values and human essential rights.

For indeed, the gulf stream will change. The magnetic poles will change. The force of the winds will change. The force of the ocean shifts will change and the tides will change. You will notice this now and then more dramatically in the next 1-2 years. As you notice these small changes, be aware that these lead to larger changes.

What to do? To be, to let go, to listen, to create, to manifest all that you need. Let those who are displaced move to new land. Let those who have lost everything find new friends. Let those who are suffering in grief find those who can comfort them. The ability to do this will come stronger now because of the rapidly intensifying changes taking place within the Earth's core.

More and more people will shift their values from materiality to spirituality. Male and female energies will re-balance, enveloping, uplifting and inspiring both men and women to find a new way of being together in harmony and truth. Learning to balancing your male and female energies will help all of us to make this shift more easily. People all over the world will begin to desire to know the connection to the power of sacred rocks, rather than the power they could have by building a high apartment building.

As you also begin to have an awareness of beings from outer space, and those beings who live inside the Earth, your life will become more fulfilling. As these energies within shift and readjust within all of us, your outer approach to life will shift, your desires will change as we purify and transform. We wish you well on your continued journey!"

Lightbulb New myths and stories for a new age

I’m sorry, I was speaking not of individuals or what individual interpretations were about individualism but rather how the philosophy of individualism as expressed in the myth was being interpreted by others today.

The empathy that people take for granted as being part of the psyches of other Americans is touching – but you have no proof – outside of some snow shoveling – that people are actually in touch with their empathic natures. In fact, most of what is said on this board tells me that people think otherwise because it’s often said by members that “others”, ie “they” “out there”, have to wake up.

And I can understand why that is said – there are so many things today that keep people asleep – encourage the sleep – and I think that the myth of individualism as used by the media etc helps that.

While I believe that in the past the myth was coupled with an understanding of Americans having empathy – people pulling together in hard times; to settle a country, or even just in neighborhoods day to day – I think the myth of individualism has been altered so that people understand it differently. Because the media uses it and it’s now just a myth that describes going it alone; thinking of oneself and doing it by oneself for a lot of people.

And, since people here are saying those people who need to wake up who are quite possibly affected by this myth will do so because of the crises (earthquakes or otherwise) that are supposed to hit the planet – I was asking – is that myth helping to keep the people asleep so that the country is doomed – doomed for me meaning – destined to suffer crises big enough to wake people up?

And, if we are empathic ourselves – do we care that people use a myth that had much more depth to it (empathy and individualism combined)- to help keep others – those to whom we are connected spiritually and physically – asleep?

Would it be possible to help change the energy of the myth back to what it was – by changing the myth of what an American is to include empathy again. So that if people say American they don’t just think “rugged” individual but also, think and feel more than that again.

And if we could do that – even just put out the idea of that – then would that make it just a little easier for people to wake up – without waiting for the crises – so that if/when the crises hit they would be awake already.

Maybe start by spreading the word that Americans are idealistic, caring and empathic individuals – although I’m not sure how that would translate into an “ism” – but by showing and telling people that empathy is part of America – how caring and helping was part of people’s lives and communities throughout history along with individualism – then maybe that would help people who are still asleep.

And in helping them, we would be helping ourselves because we are all connected and the energy changes would affect us all. If we’re the ones who remember and are more awake than others – then why not share that energy with the world? As was said here – Mother Earth and everyone on the planet – needs our help.

I think telling new stories could be a good way to start.

Myth discussions remind me so much of the work of Joseph Campbell. In his books he describes myths and stories that hold so much in common throughout all cultures not just American. see "The Heroe of a 1000 Faces"

Hi, yes, definitely, myths permeate every culture not just America – I’ve read some Joseph Campbell – and I really find the thought precedes reality concept of things fascinating. The Age of Aquarius is the age of the mind – and it seems to me that the “baddies” who are creating the mess have a clear understanding about this concept and use it – whereas other people who want to help change the world do not.

The myth of individualism is definitely not American anymore – it’s worldwide. Thanks to the corporate capitalists – those New World Order elite – it serves them well and helped spread the system. Now people have ideas of what success is based on this – and it skews everything.

Since myths are so powerful – I think changing them even in our own minds – so we have something else to tell ourselves would be very empowering. Let alone if people could start sharing stories – stories are very powerful. It could help separate us from the system - the energy of the mind working for the spirit – that sort of thing.

One part of the myth of individualism that I think really messes with people in terms of the economy is the idea of success it creates. There’s so much of an idea that success is some grand sweeping worldwide thing. And that anything to have an effect has to have a universal effect – but that’s not true.

There’s no talk about any other kind of success and that limits everyone. I think if people could redefine things whether it’s an artist thinking they have to be a star or a small business owner’s ideas of how far and fast she or he needs to build a business – since it’s all based on that story – the one that serves a system we don’t want – then it would make things a lot easier for them and really help change things.

I'll take a look at the Hero with a 1000 faces - thanks!
