Hello Bibbs,
I visited Avebury 2 years ago. I anticipated enjoying the experience and being interested in the stone formations. But once I was there, I remember feeling as though I just wanted to leave. I was uncomfortable being there. I have always wondered what could have been behind this reaction. Do you have any thoughts? If so, would love to hear them. Joanne |

Your post really interested me, Joanne ~ I had quite a similar reaction when I was at both Avebury and Stonehenge. Definitely strong energy sites - amazing places! - but I couldn't stay very long, it was like an invisible force was attracting me to back away from the stones. I have no idea if, historically, human or animal sacrifices occurred at either site, but I sensed a great wave of unrest and sadness there. I physically had chills running up my spine!
Like you, I went, expecting an entirely different experience. I also would be interested in hearing others' thoughts on this. (I remain in absolute awe of both Avebury & Stonehenge .... "something" makes them "sacred sites" ---- is it the stories they could tell if stones could speak? The memories held in the rocks? The collective energies of ages past, present and future swirling around them? What ...?) Still baffled, Lura ![]() |

Lura,
It is so interesting that you had the same reaction as I did. It makes me feel better to know that I am not the only one. I wonder too, if we were picking up on something that may have occured there that is still harbouring negative energy of some sort. My husband was just the opposite--he loved being there and wanted to explore even farther, but I just couldn't and asked him if he would mind leaving. Now, at Stonehenge, I did not feel that way at all. I was in awe of the huge stones and their formation. So, it is interesting how we react to things and have no idea why. Have you noticed that his also happens with people we meet? Sometimes you might have a strong dislike for someone you meet with no real reason at all. Others you gravitate towards. I'm sure the psycologists would have some explanation for it, but I have to believe that we are actually tuning into some vibration that is being eminated or possibly we have know these people and places before. It is worth exploring. Love, Joanne |
