Maybe the souls that don't pass on (that stay as protective or negative spirits) are the ones that don't like the physical forms as much, and it was their karma to choose the forms that led to them staying on. Anyway, just throwing a thought out there (how exactly do you "throw" thoughts anyway? maybe I should say "project" ).

For me, reincarnation is the great cosmic gift, allowing us to learn all there is to learn and to experience all there is to experience until there's nothing else we can possibly need to know to lead totally fulfilled eternal lives. I think that every existence is another step on the ladder to the final goal which is to know ourselves not as our present incarnation but to understand the true essence of life. I see it as that final moment when we shed our physicality and we're happy to be just the energy, understanding what it is and what it can do. Reincarnation has to be the greatest excitement. Certainly it released all fear I had of death - maybe that's the lesson this incarnation serves? To make us frightened of the physical in the first instance and then to learn how unimportant the physical is at the end of it?

I agree Brit and I think that is why so many of us resist the idea of "dying". We would miss all the physical senses which can be so enjoyable!
