Coming to a cosmos near you! The Perseid meteor shower will be at its peak this weekend. It will be a crescent moon, so there should be plenty to enjoy, about 100 meteors per minute, according to experts quoted in the LA Times today.

In addition, Jupiter and Venus will sparkle in the middle of it, adding to the wonder.

Yes Rick, My grandson and I are planning to go out and watch for it--he is nine and sleeping over that night. I'm so glad that he is interested in this kind of thing at such an early age. But then, I've always said that he is an old soul.

That's wonderful! I remember the first time I was told about the Perseids and went out to watch them. I lay on the windshield and hood of my dad's 1971 Chevy Malibu looking at the sky. I wasn't much older than nine at that time.
