My name is JoAnne Castelli Castor. I am an artist and work in my studio in New Jersey. I have been painting my "emergence" series for 25 years.
This series uses symbolic female figures rising from water, earth, darkness, clouds, etc. ...
they are icons of world conflicts & represent a society struggling to move
" toward consensus and peace and away from aggression and war"
These large-scale works can be described as realistic yet abstract graphic compositions that use the female figure as an element of the landscape. I would like to share these works with this group. I will attempt to post them here, but you may see the series at my website: http://www.castellicastor.com |

Hello Joanne
You are most definitely a very talented artist. Thank you for sharing your work with us and the link to your site. I think the Emergence concept of the feminine rising is appropo to these times. I enjoyed perusing your site. Moorestown is quite a project and rendered beautifully. I liked the portraits, especially your Self Portrait That is interesting about St. Francis and stigmata, I didn't know that. Especially in the still lifes, I like the way you capture depth and texture. I wrote a poem once about the carousel, so Gracie's touched my heart. And there is something about "I Can Hear Breathing" that really draws me. I like this one very much.In Emergence Triptyk #2, the emergence of the feminine energy in this piece reminds me so much of the peaceful sight that greets me each morning, I just have to share it with you. The townspeople here call her "The Sleeping Lady" and she rests atop the Sacramento Mountains overlooking our small town. Truly the feminine arising from Mother Earth! Enjoy... Thank you again for sharing, and wishing you much success... Love...Peg

Dear Peg,
I was so happy to get your note. I have just now read it, I find it hard to locate the thread of this discussion board. I am just learning how to get around Shirley's site. Thank you for all of your comments on my work. It is so nice to get feedback. Artists work in isolation in their studios and they need to hear how their work affects the viewer. The changes happening on the planet now are faster and increasing in number. I'm working on a concept for a painting that will show the the very large higher self in a nurturing position over the physical body. Are you a writer or artist? Do you share your work? I am bookmarking this page so I will be able to find it again. Bless you and hope to talk to you again soon, JoAnne |

Hi JoAnne
Glad you found us again! Navigating here can be a little confusing at first, but stick with it, you'll get the hang of it.Not only artists, but I think everyone, needs to hear feedback when they share something from the depths of their Being. And when I look at paintings such as yours, they "speak" to me in different ways. Sometimes, its an expression on a face, or an emotion emanating from the eyes, or the joy of a lucious fruit glorying in its intended purpose and stirring up a memory in the viewer. There is an unspoken energy emitted from paintings, and its magical. I like this new concept you are thinking of with the Higher Self. It reminds me of a meditation I do wherein I cradle the planet in my arms infusing Her with Light and Love. I have from time to dappled in art, but am no where near your caliber of your excellence! I do however, enjoy writing, and have shared many of them here on the Creativity Board. If you are interested in reading them, if you look on the left side of your screen here, you will see a Blue Link called Search. Click that and in the field for Poster, type OneLight, choose posts without any specific dates, and highlight Creativity Board. That will bring up the writings I have shared here, going back to 2002 ! You might especially like to read the one entitled "Carousel" Have fun exploring when you have time. Love...Peg
