Hello karon,
I am new to the site but not to Shirley and her writings.
I too have just lost one of our beloved fur kids. She had a long life and we were the only home she had besides the home she was born in.
During her last days she was weak and wobbly and one time as I was letting the pack (we had 4, now 3) out into the yard her sissy saw her wobbling and walked up beside her to hold her up and walk her out the door, it was remarkable to see. The first few days after she was gone her sissy stayed out in the yard trying to track down her sent.Makes me want to cry just thinking of it.

Hi from Karon
Hi, Thank you for sharing. I am so sorry for your loss!!! We have had four fur kids over the past 20 years and this is the first time that we don't have any. I guess that it will take a little time to get used to. Your story is so sad and yet beautiful at the same time. It just shows how much compassion and loyality they are capable of and how much we can learn from them.
This is the first time for any cyber interaction for me...so I really am a 'newby'.
Once again I am so sorry for your loss and thank you for sharing.

Love and Peace

Welcome Karon and Hi, Lovesgift.
Glad you found the site, Karon. You will be right at home here. I am sorry for both your losses, Karon and lovesgift. I too lost a fur person recently. It is as hard as losing a family member--they ARE our families. My Sassy was my little girl.... I miss her so much! But we must move on.

You will both find a lot to love about this site. And Karon, you can make some really good friends online. I have and you will too.

Much love to both of you. C.

Hi and thanks
Hi Cher O, Thank you for your kind words and warm welcome.
I am so sorry about your little one. I just feel thankful that i was able to know mine. They, (all 4) were such a gift in my life.

I have only recently discovered this site...how wonderful it is!!!!
Have always admired and respected Shirley.

Thanks for the beautiful quote. How true!

Welcome to Shirley's site Karon! We are so happy to have you join us.

Will be sending you some healing energy for your heart.....and the thought to remember that "nothing ever dies, it just changes form".

In the space of five years, we "lost" four beloved fur people but, they are still very much here in spirit. Three were very young together...guess I didn't think that through very well at the time. (But it was a lot of fun).

My heart goes out to you.

Blessings and Peace

May you find peace in your heart,

Thank you for your message. It is really lovely just to know that there are people out there who understand. We are slowly but surely getting there. We don't have children, so our 'fur kids' really did fill that place. Our girl Tilly (beautiful Border Collie) passed away first. We were expecting it to happen because she was 14.5 years old. But our boy Henri (Australian Blue Heeler/Dingo)
was sudden and unexpected. I think sometimes they just wanted to be together.

Love to you

Hi Karon
Hello karon, and welcome to shirley’s web family. May you enjoy this site as much as the rest of us do. Lots of things to discover and learn and wonderful people to exchange ideas with.

Am sorry to hear of your recent loss. May you, (along with lovesgift, cher-o, and wolfdog) find peace in the wonderful cherished memories of your fur babies.

Even though I don’t have any pets of my own now, I grew up with lots of them (dogs, birds, fish) and I still remember my delight in their presence. One memory that is always with me is how our dog ChaCha came to us. I can still see my brother looking up all innocent eyed at my mom, holding a rope in his hands and at the other end was ChaCha, and he saying “Honestly Ma, she just followed me home!” LOL Always thought he would grow up to be a vet, as he was always bringing home the strays, including lizards and turtles!

Anyway, welcome aboard…

Thank you so much for the welcome.
What a wonderful memory about your brother. It made me laugh a lot...thankyou for that. Did your brother become a Vet?

I hope that you don't mind, but I have another question. This is the first time I have joined a web site and I find myself stumbling around. I am not very sure how it all works. For example I am in the welcome forum at the moment, could you tell me how to get into other forums?

Love and best wishes to you:)

OneLight 01-28-2014 05:37 PM

Hi Karon

Glad my childhood memory brought a chuckle to you. No, my brother did not become a vet. His chosen career was in electrical engineering. He was the first college grad in our family and we are all so proud of him. He is a grandpa now and still retains that loving sense of caring for the family, people, and pets.

As for accessing other forums, at the top of the first blue box here, you will see in blue "Encounter Board > Main Category > Welcome", just click Encounter Board link to bring you back to the topic board and on the left side (like you did to get into the Welcome board), click on any subtopic that interests you. Feel free to submit a reply, or post a new subject.

I highly suggest when you have the time, to peruse the Broadcast Shows that are archived. Shirley and Brit have done many interviews with a wide range of guests and topics. These are done usually every other Sunday at 6 pm pacific time.

Also, usually on Sunday evenings, several members get together in the Chat Room, and you are most welcome to join us there. At the top of your screen you will see a Blue link called Live Chat. Just click and it will lead you there. Or on any evening, or even during the day, if you feel like chatting, you can post a Subject (eg, Chat Now 1/28 Noon). You never know, there is usually someone reading the Boards and they may feel like chatting too.

Hope this helps to answer your question.

Thanks so much for helping me out with the navigation advice. Felt so perplexing - yet is so simple (a lot like life in general) LoL. I am so amazed at how many forums there are and I am going to be very busy investigating them all.
Your brother sounds like a wonderful fellow. I shared your story about him bringing home ChaCha, with a friend and she just laughed and laughed. Your story will be passed around Fremantle, Western Australia (where we live) in no time.

I heard that the U.S. is extremely cold at the moment. Down this way it is the exact opposite. If you are in one of those cold zones, I hope that you stay warm and comfortable.
Love and Peace :)

Hello and welcome Karon
Good to see you here and let us know if we can help with anything. We have a wonderfully helpful community here.

OneLight 01-30-2014 11:49 AM

Yes, it is chilly where I am in the Southwest, but no where near the icy snow conditions that much of this country is experiencing right now. My heart goes out to those who are enduring all this. I just keep sending out warming energies to surround them. I am so thankful for my blessings in this.

So Karon, you are from Australia? We have other members from there also. Maybe one day you will hook up with them on these Boards or in chat.

Just curious, you being from Australia, are you familiar with the Women's Visions United, a non-profit organization that for several years has been involved in sewing a Message Quilt capturing the visions, dreams, and community of all peoples in bringing balance to Mother Earth? Better yet, have you seen the Quilt where you live? I think they are in Eltham VIC. Here's the link to their website if you are interested:

I contributed a Quilt Square to it a few years ago. Along the left side of the web page is a menu. Click Message Quilt. Go to page 4. Mine is the last square in Row 3. If you click on the picture, my description of the meaning comes up.

Well, have a good day

Hi Peg
So sorry that it has taken so long for my reply. I have recently returned to school and life has been rather crazy. Thank you for sharing the message quilt site with me. What a wonderful, inspirational site (I love your contribution).

Love and best wishes

Hello Di

Thanks for the welcome.
When I opened your link, I laughed SO much.
That would have to be the most beautiful dog I have ever seen. I want to know him/her!!!!!!!

Much love

Hi Karon
My heart goes out to you on the loss of your fur people. They are such precious parts of our lives.

Glad you are enjoying the website and hope to see you on the boards for some time.

hi Brit,

Thanks for your message. Joining this site has really helped me to get through such a difficult time. Sometimes I think that I am moving on and going ok, but then something will remind me how much I miss them. i was in art class the other day and we had to quickly sketch various emotions e.g joy, anger and so on. When I came to the topic of loss I burst into tears and ran from the room. The power of art !!!!! LoL

Thanks again
All my best :)

Wolfdog comes out of the bushes...

Just got your sweet message. Love to you, too.

PS A while back there was a wonderful "pet psychic" in the chat room. Brit was managing the chat. This man connected truly with several of my precious ones who had crossed over. I really felt a lot better after listening to his very accurate connection. You may wish to connect with him. It was so long ago that I have forgotten his name but, Brit will know.
Just a thought.

Hi wolfdog
thanks for the information.
I have been working very hard on letting them go. they would have passed through the Bardot by now and are probably moving/moved into new forms.

Peace and love

Karon :)
