Recurring Images of Community
Was just reading more of Dancing in the Light (my first read), and came across an image that I believe you all will recognize. It is apparently one of celebration and community and family used by SM at least since before the publication of Dancing in 1985:
"There was a cast party in between shows, commemorating the end of our run. The tables were decorated with bowls of cherries and there was yet another carrot cake with "Love and Light" spelled out in sugary letters." (p. 130).
Bowls of cherries and love & light, be it within a cast family or our "Encounterboard family" here, are consistent images for SM of nourishing, enlightened, and--yes, entertaining and lighthearted--communal and individual growth.
Namaste from the midwest,
You're absolutely right. The goal of ShirleyMacLaine.com was and is to be a community - a family - where ideas and thoughts are exchanged and concepts are grown and nourished.
What a great group of family members we have!
