Sister Lura will be missed....

her sweet friendliness, her kindness, her wisdom. We would have liked to share her love here a bit longer. I am sure she is making great new friends where she is and that she is catching up with family and loved ones. Peace, Lura. Love, C.

I'm so sad about losing Lura, but trying not to be. I know she really isn't "gone", but I sure will miss her postings here on the EB. Knowing I will never get another PM from her isn't easy either. What a wonderful person. I have lost a friend today.

After the meditation:

admin [Shirley]: How do you feel?
...
sisterlura: relaxed and fearless!
...
sisterlura: calm ...
...
sisterlura: Verrrrry calm ..........
...
sisterlura: Thank you, Shirley!
...
admin: We hold more fear than we need to and especially that from outside influence. This week try to let go of that and walk in your own heart chakra energy!
...
admin: I'll leave you with that. Have a wonderful heart felt week.
...
sisterlura: Have a wonderful week, all -- I have to go, too. Thank you, Shirley!!
...
admin: Good night everyone!
sisterlura has left the room.

Missing my friend...

You all have helped my feellings so much with your posts, what a positive outlook you have given me on Sister Lura. I know she is not dead, but living a new life now. I too will miss her loving words and encouragement she always gave me, but I am so glad she is out of pain and suffering. I asked my son Ryan to welcome her with open arms, she helped me so come to terms with losing him. I love and miss you Lura but know I will see you and we will talk again in the future. May your love give your family the strength to carry on.

My dear Friends....I am saddened to hear this news. No matter how enlightened we are, for a human . . . loss and letting go of attachment is always such a tremendous heartache. The beautiful tragedy of being human. What an experience, eh?

I've not been a part of your community very long (and I've been absent for the last week or so), but Lura was one of the first to warmly welcome me here and--in particular--engage with me in my musings in the Books Encounter Board threads.

This morning prior to meditation, I read the following Rumi poem just after learning of Lura's crossing and the loss of this community. I think the poem--in part--contemplates that subtle separation (that delicate veil) between this bodily life and the spirit's life where everything is sound/music, where poems find root, and that we do have the ability to open that window and find our connection to that spirit world.

May those who knew and loved Lura most find that connection and let those spirits fly in and out of your individual hearts and your collective heart:

----

"Where Everything is Music" - Jalaluddin Rumi (trans. Coleman Barks)

Don't worry about saving these songs!
And if one of our instruments breaks,
it doesn't matter.

We have fallen into the place
where everything is music.

The strumming and the flute notes
rise into the atmosphere,
and even if the whole world's harp
should burn up, there will still be
hidden instruments playing.

So the candle flickers and goes out.
We have a piece of flint, and a spark.

The singing art is sea foam.
The graceful movements come from a pearl
somewhere on the ocean floor.

Poems reach up like spindrift and the edge
of driftwood along the beach, wanting!

They derive
from a slow and powerful root
that we can't see.

Stop the words now.
Open the window in the centre of your chest,
and let the spirits fly in and out.

Just joining the group here in celebration of and remembering Sister Lura. I am happy that she finally let go and joined with her mother, and other loved ones whom she missed.

I can relate to you Joanne as Lura and I exchanged emails almost everyday for over a year and it seemed very vacant when those emails stopped coming.

I know that she loved being a part of this community and she cherished the friendships she made here.
She had a lifetime collection of Shirley MacLaine movies and books, which she jokingly referred to as "contraband". Contraband because Shirley's metaphysical interests and writings did not quite mix with the thoughts of the convent. She told me that she had read all of Shirley's books at least twice and some three times.
I can't remember all the details of this....but she told me that recently at dinner one of the Nuns brought up a subject and Lura brought up a Shirley MacLaine movie that somehow related to the subject matter and another Nun immediately said..."Isn't she the one who believes in reincarnation?" Lura said...."I just stopped taking at that point." LOL She laughed about that....because even though she chose a life of religious service....which she DID take very seriously...it was not going to keep her from becoming all that she could be in this lifetime.

Blessings~ xo

Sister Lura

What a wonderful story Shelley, it warms my heart. Lura was a one of kind, a seeker of sorts, like all of us.....We will miss her.
