Spaghetti and Meatballs-History Lesson

Being a vegetarian, this is a strange post for me but on the other hand, it is about history and from Smithsonian, so it is fitting. Spaghetti and meatballs are not Italian, the origin of this dish went along with a dramatic change in the role of immigrant women and a huge change in the percentage of income that was spent on food, interesting and short article.

This was a fun and interesting article to read--thank you for posting it, Di! I, too, am a vegetarian--10 years now (you?)--and I love to cook! The hands-down-best vegetarian (vegan really) cookbook out there (as far as I've found thus far) is Veganomicon (http://www.theppk.com/books/veganom...vegan-cookbook/). Everything I have ever made from this cookbook, which is nearly everything now, has been terrific! Including . . . spaghetti and BEANballs! The beanballs are made from kidney beans, bread crumbs, and some good flavoring. They are delicious, and you can throw them in with spaghetti or make an Italian beanball sub-sandwich!

Wow . . . now I'm hungry!

Delicious Butterfingers dessert
So many great desserts. Rice Krispy treats, Hershey's Smore's. Does anyone have a desert using Butterfingers?
