This is so beautifully rendered. Thank you.
A note to readers of the 1/10/13 writings above…Deb shared with me that she received a short post from a FB friend who briefly mentioned an amazing incident of elephants who paid their respects to a man they knew who had passed away. That was all the info Deb had and was immediately impulsed to write the above through the Big Elephant (or should I say, vice versa?). Anyway, I was intrigued by this and started a google search and here are some excerpts from two of several folks who had written about this. Amazing how the Big Elephant's writing has captured the heart of this story…. Excerpts from The Daily Galaxy 10/5/12: On March 7, 2012 Lawrence Anthony (a legend in South Africa and author of "The Elephant Whisperer") died. Two days after his passing, wild elephants showed up at his home led by two large matriarchs. Separate wild herds arrived in droves to say goodbye to their beloved man-friend. A total of 31 elephants…walking slowly for days, making their way in a solemn one-by-one queue from their habitat, had patiently walked miles, to get to his South African House. Lawrence's wife, Francoise, was especially touched, knowing that the elephants had not been to his house prior to that day for well over 3 years. they stayed for 2 days 2 nights without eating anything. Then one morning, they left, making their long journey back home. Excerpts from Rob Kirby of BeliefNet: For 12 hours, two herds of wild South African elephants slowly made their way through the Zululand bush until they reached the house of late author Lawrence Anthony, the conservationist who saved their lives. The formerly violent, rogue elephants, destined to be shot a few years ago as pests, were rescued and rehabilitated by Anthony, who had grown up in the bush and was known as the “Elephant Whisperer.” For two days the herds loitered at Anthony’s rural compound on the vast Thula Thula game reserve in the South African KwaZulu – to say good-bye to the man they loved. But how did they know he had died? Known for his unique ability to calm traumatized elephants, Anthony had become a legend. The first herd to arrive at Thula Thula several years ago were violent. They hated humans. Anthony found himself fighting a desperate battle for their survival and their trust, which he detailed in The Elephant Whisperer. So how, after Anthony’s death, did the reserve’s elephants — grazing miles away in distant parts of the park — know? “A good man died suddenly,” says Rabbi Leila Gal Berner, Ph.D., “and from miles and miles away, two herds of elephants, sensing that they had lost a beloved human friend, moved in a solemn, almost ‘funereal’ procession to make a call on the bereaved family at the deceased man’s home.” “If there ever were a time, when we can truly sense the wondrous ‘interconnectedness of all beings,’ it is when we reflect on the elephants of Thula Thula. A man’s heart stops, and hundreds of elephants’ hearts are grieving. This man’s oh-so-abundantly loving heart offered healing to these elephants, and now, they came to pay loving homage to their friend.” xxx Can there be any doubt … we are all One Love...Peg |

The Big Elephant
01-23-2013 by Deb Abbott The sun shone brightly in the southern sky As The Big Elephant lifted her trunk To bless the day as she did everyday. It was then that she realized exactly why she did this "Bless the Day". It was all about "energy" being sent forth. She knew then that what she sent forth would come back to her. But what exactly does "Bless" mean, she questioned? Simply to bestow good upon whatever is present before you. And so, she continued to bestow good upon everyday. Bless this Day, became her mantra. And everyday, what she put forth Came back to her, magnified. It was then that she realized That she had the POWER To BLESS THIS DAY And have that blessing come back to her.... Love, Deb |

The Big Elephant
02-14-2013 by Deb Abbott The Big Elephant felt the embrace of The Universe It was like a wake up call in a sense So, she went on alert in a way And began to mark her steps in that day. It seemed necessary to be definitive of what it was That called to her in that day To be attentive to So, she had to back step and retrace. It was then that she found that she was sitting In the motion of an ongoing stream of recognition Of the daily antics of her current circumstances And that she had to record her responses. Now, this seemed rather frivolous at the time. However, it seemed that it became more important With every stroke of experience in a day to day rhyme That she was attempting to articulate. And then she simply stopped. . . She sauntered then to the pond that was before her She lowered her head into the reverance of the waters She seeped the succulence into her being and allowed It to enwrap her being with its essence. Succulence took precedence over all else.... Love, Deb |

The Big Elephant
by Deb Abbott 02-19-2013 The Big Elephant paused in her confusion. She shook her head in an attempt to clear The airwaves that seemed to be penetrating Her cognitive abilites that didn't seem to relate. As The Big Elephant began talking to herself In an attempt to understand the current events She found herself replying in earnest Hoping to find something that was in correlation to her state. Of being in her assumptions of what had just prevailed In her experience. What tender moments she found Herself in. Taking a deep breath, she allowed her thoughts To continue unevolved but simply with current stimulation. Best I just rest for the evening before proceeding. Best I just give "It" a rest as well. Best I just let "It" ride. Best I just call "Time Out". And so, The Big Elephant did just that. She called a halt to all further thought or actions And simply rested in her own knowing of who she is And allowed for all others to do whatever they chose to do. With a heavy sigh of release, The Big Elephant allowed herself .................................................. .........................Peace. Love, Deb |
The Big Elephant
03-02-2013 by Deb Abbott The Big Elephant felt her presence stabilize Within her own Essence in the moment of her time. It was as though she knew beyond herself In that moment of reckoning. So, she lent herself to offer of her assistance To others not so inclined To be able to hold themselves in the presence Of the articulate deligation of communion. In short, back stop, clap your hands and come to union. What once has been, comes forth to be again In a fashion that removes all doubt of deliverance To a situation that revives itself on fruition. In the stillness of the night, the heart beat still thrives Within the Echo, I AM remain. Love, Deb |

The Big Elephant
03-17-2013 by Deb Abbott The Big Elephant was perched upon a high point Pivoting to garner all the broadcasts That were being sent out on this individual day A day of celebration in so many many ways. A celebration of life in general was the plan Celebrating living in this life span Then, loving life, so to speak Is the plan of this day. It was then that The Big Elephant questioned, "Why shouldn't every day be a day of celebration? Love, Deb |
In my view The Big Elephant should be published. I would buy it and hold it dear.

The Big Elephant
03-25-2013 by Deb Abbott The Big Elephant sensed within the perimeter of her existance, another. So long had The Big Elephant been alone, that when another came into Her energy, she was point on. Now, she stood solidly, holding her ground and simply waited, aware. Within this waiting she sensed a tenderness of care that was directed. Not only towards her but to everyone within the scope of the giver's range. She was seemingly amused by this initially and smiled at the energy she felt. Then, she moved forward into the melding and ask of the intent. As the wave of her asking made contact, so then she felt the wave of answer come back... She swayed then in the motion of the energy that made her swell within herself. She rocked then like the big giant that she was and she owned it, the knowing that is. That was it!!! The "knowing" had come to be. The knowing had come to replace the belief. Because the knowing gave notice of the experience that got the one from belief to knowing. Yes, "Knowing" comes from the "Experience". The Big Elephant then was thrilled and she raised her trunk and let out a huge trumpet of BEING!!!!!!!! Can you hear it now? Can you hear it now? BEING!!!!! Within the experience!!! "Now, I know", said The Big Elephant..... Love, Deb |

The Big Elephant
04-03-2013 by Deb Abbott As the rain caressed the Mother Earth, So did the Mother Earth caress the rain. As The Big Elephant stood quietly beneath The boughs of her beloved Baobab Tree, So did the Baobab Tree caress her. The Big Elephant felt the joy of knowing love. To be loved and to love, thus becoming love. In becoming love, she noticed no barriers, No boundaries or stipulations, just being open To giving just herself and receiving the same. And, it was then that she realized She had nothing else to do but just be for another Herself, and stand stolidly by the side of another Being there as they championed themselves In whatever they needed to succeed. She then freed herself to simply cheer another on... Love, Deb |

The Big Elephant
04-28-2013 by Deb Abbott I was wondering today, if I have done all I need to do, today, And then it occurred to me that certainly I have for me to Ask such a question, for certainly I would never consider if not. The Big Elephant blended her day into the eve with respect Of her repose and allowed herself to take a deep breath Before she rested then in the swaying of the green of the leaves. It had been a busy day, she delighted in all that had transpired She recognized that she had put herself forward and vantaged Herself in a most pleasant way, she smiled in delight of her being. The Big Elephant then paused in her gratefulness for all that She had experienced. She posed herself in respite, knowing that All that she was has come from all that she purposed. It was then that The Big Elephant felt the most gratitude. Lifting her head before her evening rest, she gave one last Pause for the eve and then gathered herself to sleep. In her sleep, she dreamed. She dreamt of a Mountain that She was yet to climb. Interestingly, she felt a calm knowing That the climbing of this Mountain would be to her Ultimate Devine. She rested then... Love, Deb |

The Big Elephant
05-06-2013 by Deb Abbott It was a "Gathering Day", of sorts, The Big Elephant thought. Gathering all that she had purposed Heretofore and now had found, another Change coming 'round. And in the coming of that change she found All that she had learned coming forth to greet her. It was from that learning that she was able to Receive this new change without resistance But with a knowing that all happens for the good of all. In that "new light", The Big Elephant began to acknowledge That another change was coming but now she found herself "Inviting" it with anticipation. Because now she knew that When one situation ends, it only opens up the door for another To sweep itself across her plain in a new and inviting, exciting way. So, now, she sat in anticipation, wondering with delight What she would next experience. Full of anticipation and Curiosity and a knowing that whatever it was would so fully Continue to define who she truly is and allow her to delight In her experience of being the best she could be in whatever situation ....She found herself... For certainly that is what she had come to learn... To find the best of herself in whatever situation She found herself. That was her responsibility... And, she found it was getting easier and easier As she allowed herself to just go with the flow... Acceptance of the situation that she was in and then Finding her best self in whatever she was experiencing. The Big Elephant then shook her head in agreement With what she had come to know, saying "Yes, and so it is." Taking another long deep breath, The Big Elephant, ....Turned her eyes towards the stars and identified with the star that stood out in the darkness, the one who shone ...Brightest.... Love, Deb |
