Recipes

Poached Ginger Pears

A delicious dessert or a wonderful lunch when served with a little cottage cheese or a slice of brie.

  • 4 Pears
  • 1 inch of Ginger root, fresh, sliced
  • Water to cover the pears

Peel the pears, leaving the stem on
Slice the bottom of the pears off so that they will stand in the pot
Stand them in the pot
Add the ginger slices
Pour water over the pears so that they are completely covered
Bring to a boil
Turn the heat down and allow them to simmer about 15 minutes
Remove from heat
Pat dry with a paper towel

May be served warm or cold

Serve with whipped cream, brie cheese, cottage cheese, or a fruity sauce
