Letting Go of Weight?
It's All in Your Head!
Dr. Georgina Cannon teaches clients to access their subconscious where weight gain begins. Triggers in the brain tell us to hold on to weight for various reason. Through NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) or Hypnosis the subconscious mind can be reprogrammed into allowing our body to let go of excess weight or inches and to find its’ natural size.
Over winter many people eat for comfort, rather like hibernation. Our primal motivation in wintertime is to store fat for survival or emotional comfort. When spring appears, and we emerge from hiding, our bodies want to evolve naturally back into shape. With hypnosis we can access the primal brain, our subconscious, to motivate and feed the body differently and appropriately for the Spring and Summer seasons.
A couple of key triggers Dr. Cannon looks for, are sleep deprivation and the benefactor syndrome.
The latter, she explains, is a person who lives their life only focusing on others, and ignoring their own needs. “They have such low self esteem that they desperately need the gratitude of other people to feel whole” she explains. And that means they have very little time to honor, love, or respect themselves. “Your body is like a car” she adds, “ if you don’t respect it, and take care of it, if you don’t put the appropriate fuel in the gas tank, keep the oil topped up and the tires inflated appropriately, your car won’t run very well, and in the end, it won’t run at all!”
Lack of a deep fulfilling night’s sleep on a continuous basis, negatively affects the seratonin levels in the body which make it very difficult to let go of excess weight and inches.
Dr. Cannon has seen the effects of changed beliefs on her clients. Dan, a retired gentleman, a widower, who ate out of boredom, through hypnosis was able to access a long time partially forgotten longing to photograph nature. He joined a camera club, made new friends, took up hiking to photograph his beloved close to the earth flora, found through the summer time, he let go of over 40 lbs. His body became stronger and leaner; his attitude about life more joyous and his world is much wider than the old t.v./fridge track he used to have. Joanne, a new mom in her early 20’s had slowly been gaining weight since puberty, and she was now more than 50 lbs over her healthy weight.
Using hypnosis, we worked with her to heal some early life issues, and build her self esteem. We also changed her craving for junk food sugar to the natural sugars of fruits and vegetables. Joanne, six months later, has almost reached her target weight. But most importantly, she feels good about who she is, and knows that emotions and food don’t belong together.
“We encourage clients to see beyond the focus of weight loss” Cannon explains “our goal is to help raise the client’s self esteem, because when they feel good about themselves, they have respect for their body and treat it well.
